MRI scan

Project research is developing quantitative MRI analysis for more objective disease diagnostics

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a commonly used medical scanning technique, with more than 30 million scans performed per year in Europe. Standard MRI results mostly have a qualitative nature that limits their objectivity and comparability.

The project

EMPIR project Quantitative MR-based imaging of physical biomarkers (18HLT05, QUIERO) is working to evaluate emerging and complementary Electric Properties Tomography and Magnetic Resonance Fingerprinting, to develop quantitative MRI analysis for more objective disease diagnostics. These algorithms will be first tested on phantoms that mimic the properties of human tissues, and then applied to real clinical data.
