New temperature measurement service developed in EMPIR project
Project Enhancing process efficiency through improved temperature measurement (14IND04 EMPRESS) developed improved temperature measurement techniques for manufacturing processes, which will lead to reduced product rejection and increased energy efficiency.
As part of the project, the consortium developed an in-situ combustion standard for the validation of flame temperatures. This portable standard flame provides a reproducible region of high temperature gas of known temperature and composition.
It is fully commissioned and available as a measurement service to external customers. It can be used for the calibration of optical thermometry techniques commonly found in combustion research. This will enable customers to measure the temperature of flames with traceability to the International Temperature Scale ITS-90.
This EMPIR project is co-funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and the EMPIR Participating States.
