Consultative Committee survey on pandemic preparedness

Consultative Committee

The Consultative Committee for Amount of Substance: Metrology in Chemistry and Biology (CCQM) Task Group on Infectious Disease Diagnostics and Metrology for Pandemic Preparedness was established in 2022 to support the implementation of the recommendations outlined in the CCQM’s Roadmap to Metrology Readiness for Infectious Disease Pandemic Response.

The CCQM-TG-PANDEMIC is currently developing an e-learning module to better able Regional Metrology Organisations to produce their own biological reference materials during future pandemics.

Survey on pandemic preparedness

The task group is currently conducting a survey (closing date end December 2023) to gather comprehensive data that will guide the metrology community in developing future e-learning modules, identify areas for technical skill development, and assess the current infrastructure and expertise available within the community.

Survey objectives:

  • Capture training needs: Identification of specific areas where e-learning modules and the development of technical skills can contribute to strengthening capabilities in infectious disease diagnostics metrology
  • Assess current infrastructure: By understanding the capabilities, technologies, and expertise available within the metrology and measurement community, potential gaps and areas for improvement will be identified

The EMN TraceLabMed facilitated the survey's dissemination to European NMIs and DIs, with the aim of securing a robust response pool. Additionally, the EMN broadened the survey's reach to encompass European calibration labs and the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC), both of which maintain partnerships with the network.

Contribute to the survey

If you require additional details or wish to contribute to this non-public survey, please get in touch with either TraceLabMed or Kai.Stoelting (METAS).

EMN TraceLabMed is supported by the joint network project 18NET02. EMPIR projects are co-funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and the EMPIR Participating States.
