The 16th International Conference on the Properties of Water and Steam

At the 16th International Conference on the Properties of Water and Steam (ICPWS16) the International Association for the Properties of Water and Steam Subcommittee on Seawater (IAPWS SC-SW) will be organising workshops on metrology issues for salinity, pH and atmospheric humidity. The 16th ICPWS is the continuation of the sequence of International Conferences on the Properties of Water and Steam, which started in 1929. Initially these conferences were about the thermodynamic properties of water and steam for the electric power industry and other aqueous systems, but they have expanded into new areas of pure and applied research related to water and aqueous solutions at extreme conditions along with sea water and humid gases.  The JRP-Coordinator for ENV05, WP1 leader and ENV05-REG1 will chair and vice-chair (respectively) workshops at ICPWS16. In addition the mid-term JRP meeting for ENV05 will be organised in conjunction with ICPWS16. EMRP project ENV05 'Metrology for ocean salinity and Acidity' (ENV05 Ocean) will link measurements of salinity to measurements of density, which can be traced back to SI unis, thereby improving confidence in salinity measurments.
