Accelerating CAV market uptake and type approval through collaborations with Europeans National Metrology Institutes
Thursday, 22 January 2026, 09:30 - 13:00 CET
On Thursday, 22 January 2026, from 9:30 to 13:00 CET (UTC+1) EURAMET will host an online workshop to explore how Europe’s measurement infrastructure, National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) providing SI-traceability, uncertainty evaluation, reproducibility & comparability of results, remove technical bottlenecks that slow down CAV deployment and approval. By identifying measurement gaps limiting CAV validation, Europe could reduce iteration cycles between OEMs and authorities, supporting both faster type approval and faster time-to-market.
The workshop brings together OEMs, regulators, type-approval authorities, suppliers, standardisation bodies and NMIs to discuss:
- What European metrology can contribute to CAV validation and type approval, particularly where measurement confidence and comparability of results affect acceptance.
- Priority gaps in technology development and standardisation that could be addressed through metrological research under the European Metrology Partnership Industry Call 2026.
- What European National Metrology Institutes should do to further strengthen its collaboration with OEMs, regulators, type-approval authorities, suppliers and standardisation bodies in view of CAV?
