The NEWRAD conference covers all aspects of optical radiation measurements and a wide range of topics will be presented during the four day program. The specific themes of NEWRAD 2014 are Earth Observation and Quantum Optics Technologies. Half-day sessions will be devoted to both of these specific themes.
The following EMRP projects will be presented at the meeting:
- Traceability for surface spectral solar ultraviolet radiation (ENV03 SolarUV) will develop new methods and cost effective devices to reduce the uncertainty levels of solar UV measurements from 5 % to 2 %. ENV03 JRP-Partners are expected to give at least 6 presentations including one invited talk at the NEWRAD conference.
- European metrology for earth observation and climate (ENV04 MetEOC) will establish new transfer standards and methodologies to enable improved accuracy and traceability for earth observation and climate change studies.
- Metrology for Industrial Quantum Communications (IND06 MIQC) will develop new measurement techniques and input in to standards and regulation in order to validate the practical use of QKD.
- Multidimensional reflectometry for industry (IND52 xDReflect) will improve measurements such as colour, gloss, texture and sparkle, and look at how these combine to give an overall appearance.
- New primary standards and traceability for radiometry (SIB57 NEWSTAR) will improve efficient light-detecting instruments, known as photometers, resulting in the highest level realisations of the radiometric units.
