The Macroscale conference will be jointly organised by BEV and PTB. In the tradition of the legendary conference series 'Recent Developments in Traceable Dimensional Measurements' and following the 1st MacroScale held 2011 at METAS, Switzerland, the MacroScale 2014 intends to report on current trends and developments in the field of traceable dimensional measurements. The following EMRP projects will be presented at the meeting:
- Metrology of electro-thermal coupling for new functional materials technology (NEW09 METCO) will develop metrology techniques for characterization of the functional properties of new materials and electro-thermal-mechanical coupling behaviour over extended temperature ranges by precision interferometry and improved simulations.
- Large volume metrology in industry (IND53 LUMINAR) will develop new systems for large volume metrology and improve the speed and accuracy of existing methods.
- Multi-sensor metrology for microparts in innovative industrial products (IND59 Microparts) will develop 3D measurements of microparts to verify them, ensuring they function correctly in industrial applications.
- Traceable in-process dimensional measurement (IND62 TIM) will develop a test chamber to verify the measurement performance of machine tools, resulting in improved product quality control and productivity.
- Angle metrology (SIB58 Angles) will develop prototype devices to realise the radian, the SI unit of angle, to ensure reliable angle measurement.
- Metrology for long distance surveying (SIB60 Surveying) will develop traceable verification techniques to benefit cutting-edge industrial electronics that operate in the radio frequency, microwave and millimetrewave.
