The first School on Optical Clocks will be hosted by the Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica (INRIM) with the support of various European metrology institutions and the partners of the projects "International Timescales with Optical Clocks"( ITOC) and "Future Atomic Clcok Technologies" (ITN-FACT).
Lectures will be held by leading experts from the European metrology institutions and speakers from all over the world, covering recent topics in frequency metrology and atomic frequency standards.
The school aims at PhD students, post-docs, young scientists and engineers.
The agenda covers the following topics:
- towards a redefinition of the SI second
- common techniques in optical clocks (ultrastable laser, optical frequency combs, optical fiber links, advanced satellite comparisons)
- lattice optical clocks
- ion optical clocks
- relativity, geodesy and clocks
- fundamental physics tests with optical clocks
- clocks in space
The school is co-funded by the European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP) with the support of the European Union and is supported by the International Training Network FACT.
