Spintronics is a technology that exploits a fundamental quantum property of electrons, known as spin, as well as the magnetic and electronic properties. Spin-caloritronics is the combination of spintronics and thermo-electricity, and focuses on the interaction of electron spins and heat currents. These two technologies have industrial applications but first the theory needs to be put into practice. EMRP project Spintronics and spin-caloritronics in magnetic nanosystems (EXL04 SpinCal) will investigate and develop nanoscale magnetic devices to build the fundamental understanding.
Partners will be presenting work from the project at the conference. The European Magnetic Sensors and Actuators Conference (EMSA) is a well known European forum that serves to assess the status, recent progress, and development in the field of magnetic sensor technology and magnetic actuators. The aim of the conference is to generate an overview of research in magnetic sensors and actuators, to recognise their relevance in modern industry and to identify potential future collaborations.
