Because of different technical developments and the increasing use of renewable energy sources like wind farms the occurrence of infrasound and ultrasound at the workplace is increasing and hence so is public exposure. EMRP project Metrology for a universal ear simulator and the perception of non-audible sound (HLT01 Ears) will investigate the impact of this 'non-audible' noise on humans and develops methods for an objective assessment of these unconventional noise exposure.
The conference in Nürnberg will cover all aspects of acoustical research and, in particular of noise impact on humans. HLT01 JRP-Partners will present results of the project work including the determination of equal loudness contours for infrasound and the measurement of directivity patterns of airborne ultrasound sources. Particular interest, however, can be expected for the brain response measurements following excitation by of non-audible sound stimuli.
