19th EURAMET General Assembly: Workshop on 'Making a strong case for the value of metrology'

EURAMET, PTB and NPL will be jointly hosting the workshop on making a strong case for the value of metrology. The aim of this face-to-face workshop is to support you and your organisation in efforts to engage with national ministries, promote the value of metrology and hence increase the potential for further funding, recognition and influence. 

Key learnings:

  • Discuss some of the key principles of making and communicating a strong case for the value of metrology.
  • Hear examples of successful engagement from different NMIs with their own ministries and funding bodies.
  • Discuss our own experiences and exchange ideas in a constructive environment of mutual support.
  • Come away with tips for how to adapt these principles to our own circumstances.

0840 - Part 1: Understanding external needs and developing a clear case for metrology. We will discuss tools and methods for engaging with external stakeholder within the public and private sector to better understand and analyse their needs. We will share our understanding of current needs and how metrology can address those needs and deliver value. We will hear examples of successful external engagements that lead to a strong understanding of the need for metrology.

0920 - Part 2: Communicating the value that metrology brings. We will discuss communication strategies and methods that allow key messages to be conveyed. We will share our current view and messages on the value of metrology to the public and private sector. We will hear where, for example, using an NMI’s convening power has enabled the value of metrology to be communicated to influential audiences and helped develop advocates.

1015 - Part 3: Working with your external stakeholders to deliver value. We will discuss how NMIs deliver impact through other organisations in the public and private sector. We will share methods and approaches for developing these close, strategic and impactful collaborations with the public and private sector. We will hear about collaborations which are delivering impact and value and discuss the characteristics of those.
