ECASIA is an established international Conference series concerned with all aspects of biological, chemical and physical interactions at interfaces, and is targeted at those using surface analytical, surface specific or surface sensitive techniques for fundamental and applied purposes. The meetings have focused on and intended for those using surface analytical, surface specific or surface sensitive techniques for applied purposes.
The following EMRP projects will be presenting at the congress:
- The rates at which medical devices suffer complications due to incompatibility with human tissues and infection remain unacceptably high. EMRP project Chemical metrology tools to support the manufacture of advanced biomaterials in the medical device industry (IND56 Q-AIMDS) will develop chemical measurements to improve device quality and patient safety
- Metrology for the characterisation of biomolecular interfaces for diagnostic devices (HLT04 BioSurf) will meet the needs of manufacturers in the rapidly growing diagnostic device industry by providing guides, standards and protocols, and by assessing new and emerging techniques capable of targeting many different biomarkers simultaneously
- Traceable characterisation of thin-film materials for energy applications (ENG53 ThinErgy) will develop the measurements needed to characterise the structure of thin films and their novel properties. Models will also be developed to help interpret the measurements and relate them to product performance
