Transfer standards for spectrophotometry and colorimetry

Project Description

NPL has developed a range of transfer standards for users in the field of spectrophotometry and colorimetry, and these are available to provide other national standards laboratories (and other users) with traceability to NPL. The standards available include:· reflectance standards in a range of colours as well as white, black and grey;· specially designed reflectance standards suitable for wavelength calibration;· neutral transmittance standards in a range of densities;· transmittance standards for wavelength calibration;· specially designed reflectance standards for the mid IR spectral range (e.g. polystyrene).Work to develop improved standards is ongoing, for example the polystyrene standards for the mid IR region were developed within the last 2 years.Calibration of transfer standards for the project partners is being carried out as required; no calibrations have been carried out this year. NPL is developing a range of Transfer Standards for industrial and other uses in the field of spectrophotometry and colorimetry, and is willing to provide other national standards laboratories with traceability to NPL.

Final Report 2019-05-23

No significant changes are planned to these services in the foreseeable future and it is therefore not considered necessary to continue to make annual reports on progress to EURAMET TC-PR. The project is therefore to be closed, but transfer standards for the project partners (and others) will continue to be carried out by NPL whenever required.

Progress Report 2018-01-18

Calibration of transfer standards for the project partners is carried out as required; none have been performed for the proejct partners since the last report.

Progress Report  2017-01-11

Calibration of transfer standards for the project partners is being carried out as required; since the last report calibrations have been carried out for CMI, for gloss, and for INRIM, for spectral regular reflectance from 350 nm to 1700 nm.

Progress Report 2016-01-27

Calibration of transfer standards for the project partners is being carried out as required; calibrations have been carried out for CMI this year.
