Time Transfer using Optical Fiber Links

Project Description

The goal is to demonstrate time transfer using optical fiber links available in existing research networks, such as CESNET (CZ) and ACONET (AT), connecting Prague and Vienna. Based on the development of an FPGA based optical sender/receiver device (CESNET), performance tests and time transfer measurements between Prague and Vienna shall be made.

Time transfer utilizes a full duplex two-way technique - the principle is similar to Two-Way Satellite Time and Frequency Transfer (TWSTFT).

Due to the difficulties of compiling the final report for the project, it was decided to conclude this project.
