Supplementary comparison liquid volume – 500 mL and 5000 mL volumetric glass flasks
Project Description
Supplementary comparison for liquid volume calibrations with two volumetric glass flasks. For the 500 mL volumetric glass flask the contained volume will be determined and for the 5000 mL volumetric glass flask the delivered volume is determined. The volume is calculated for a reference temperature of 20 °C at its reference line using the gravimetric method.
15 Participating partners have agreed to take part in this comparison.
Progress Report 2025-02-28
The technical protocol was finalised and agreed upon.
The transfer standards are in circulation between the labs for calibration.
There are two transfer packages, each consisting of a 500 mL and 5000 mL and each package is in a different loop (EU and non-EU) for the sake of logistics. VSL (pilot lab) and RISE (co-pilot) bridge are in both loops and bridge the two loops together.
The EU loop is going well and according to schedule. The non-EU loop is delayed due to logistics issues with custom clearances and ATA Carnet issues, which are being solved.
The coordination of this project was taken over from Erik Smits by Ara Abdulrahman.

Progress Report 2024-03-12
Project still on hold due to the moving of the laboratory of VSL. It is expected that a restart will happen in the next months.
Progress Report 2023-10-31
The pilot lab VSL has moved the liquid volume laboratory from Dordrecht to Maasvlakte-Rotterdam. Due to this the project has been postponed to early 2024.
