Standards and calibration facilities for automotive gases

Project Description

The objective of this project is evaluating progress in the development and realisation of standards and calibration facilities for automotive gases.

A number of NMI's already maintaining established standards for automotive gases, entered into a key comparison organised by the CCQM. The objective of the key comparison is to determine the comparability between pairs of measurements standards.

For those institutes, which for various reasons could not participate in the key comparison, this EUROMET consultation project offers an opportunity to evaluate individual progress by performing measurements on gas mixtures, similar to those of the key comparison.

The composition range of the gas mixtures in a Nitrogen matrix:

carbon dioxide18.10-4 - 22.10-4 mol/mol

10.10-2 - 14.10-2 mol/mol

carbon monoxide
2.10-2 - 4.10-2 mol/mol

propane

Final Report 2001-03-06

The project has been finished and the results are available in the KCDB

In its second meeting the METCHEM Gas Working group approved the draft B report as presented by the coordinator. The results of this Euromet key-comparison can now be linked to CCQM K3. A summary of this key-comparison will be sent to Metrologia for publication, preferably in combination with the publication of K3.
