Setting up of temperature calibration facilities at MSA, Malta in the range -80 °C to 500 °C with calibration baths and fixed points

Project Description

The collaborative activities consisting of training, studies and exchange of information between MSA (MT) and NML (IE) relating to temperature calibration techniques, temperature fixed points, calibration equipment and procedures, uncertainty estimation and other associated matters. A second phase, will consist of an assessment conducted by NML (IE) on the operation of the Malta lab. Once it is fully installed and operational. Estimated project duration is 18 months.

Final Report 2008-03-28

The collaborative activities consists of training, studies and exchange of information between MSA (MT) and NML (IE) relating to temperature calibration techniques,  temperature fixed point standards, calibration equipment and procedures, uncertainty   estimation and other associated matters. A second phase of the project  will consist of an assessment conducted by NML (IE) on the operation of the Malta lab once this is fully installed and operational.

MSA-NMS has successfully carried out the training required for the initiation of the MSA-NMS temperature calibration capability. Training was done on site at NML and followed up in 2005 by a return visit of the assessor to confirm the acquired measurement competencies, verify the equipment setup, and confirm the traceability routes being used.  This has been a highly beneficial project which has met all operational objectives.
