Realizing comparability of Primary Standard gas Mixtures (PSM)

Project Description

The objective of this project is to collaborate on the development and maintenance of Primary Standard gas Mixtures (PSMs) in areas beneficial to both partners.

Primary Standard gas Mixtures and secondary gas standards (PMs or CRMs) developed by both laboratories are intercompared according to an aggreed scheme in order to evaluate their accuracy and international uniformity.

The partners agree to share certain Primary Standard gas Mixtures between the laboratories in order to make available a broader range of nationally-traceable standards within the respective countries.

The partners also agree to cooperate in research relating to the preparation, stability, validation and maintenance of Primary Standard gas Mixtures, in order to extend efficiently the range of accurate standards available.

In principal the comparability of Primary Standard gas Mixtures is considered to be an ongoing activity. Based upon experience gathered from eg the EUROMET project, other laboratories will be invited to collaborate in the same spirit and to expand the range of traceable gas standards.
