Pressure Measurements and Calculation of the Effective Area of a Transfer Piston-Cylinder Assembly from 0.05 to 1 MPa

Project Description

A piston cylinder assembly of about 10 cm² area is circulated between the participating laboratories. Its area at 20°C, for the actual pressure, is determined by the different laboratories from 0.05 Mpa up to 1 MPa. The measurement is made in gauge mode with N₂ as working fluid.

The pressure realised at CMI and at METAS has been compared using a piston-cylinder of 10 cm2 as artifact. The measurements show the equivalence of the pressure defined by the two laboratories. Dimensional measurement of the artifact is in agreement with the values obtained by cross-floating.
