Pilot study: Inter-laboratory comparison in dynamic pressure in the range 0.5 MPa – 30 MPa
Project Description
Under EPM MaritimeMET project, developing of new and improving existing dynamic pressure potential standards including impact-mass devices and shock tubes will be performed.
To validate the performance of these standards, an inter-laboratory comparison will be done.
Two transfer standard systems (TSs) will be sent around five laboratories (RISE, LNE-ENSAM, MIKES, UME and PCB Piezotronics). The comparison will cover the pressure range from 0.5 MPa to 30 MPa and frequency range up to 100 kHz.
Progress Report 2026-08-06
The purpose of this inter-laboratory comparison is to validate the potential standards (shock tube and impact-mass device) for dynamic pressure calibration. Two transfer standards (TSs) were sent around five laboratories (RISE (shock tube), LNE-ENSAM (shock tube), MIKES (impact-mass device), UME (impact-mass device) and PCB Piezotronics (impact-mass device)).
The comparison covers the pressure range from 0.5 MPa to 30 MPa and frequency range up to 100 kHz.
- All measurements were completed at the participating laboratories.
- Evaluation of the measurements and estimation of the uncertainty budgets were done by the participating laboratories.
- The results from different laboratories were sent to the pilot laboratory (RISE) except the results from LNE-ENSAM for the TS2 is still under evaluation and will be sent to the pilot laboratory at the end of August.
- The pilot laboratory is working with the results from different laboratories and the calculation of the degree of equivalence between different laboratories is ongoing.
A paper showing the results will be written.
