Peer review of Czech Metrology Institute in the field of radiation temperature

Project Description

The rules of CIPM MRA obligate the NMIs to operate a QMS in conformity with EN ISO/IEC 17025 to support their calibration activities. The peer review will be carried out by an on-site visit of external radiation metrology expert from MIRS/UL-FE/LMK (Slovenia). The review will include relevant requirements for the competence stated in EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017, focusing especially on technical aspects.

Final Report 2026-05-12

In order to following rules of CIPM MRA, peer review of CMI radiation thermometry department was realised by external expert Igor Pušnik from MIRS/UL-FE/LMK (Slovenia) in August 2023.

The peer review focused mainly on calibration of radiation thermometers in a temperature range (-30 to 1800) °C. This range is extended in compare to the range where CMCs are already claimed in KCDB database.
During the peer review, also topic of blackbodies calibrations was debated.

During the peer review, assessment of used methodical procedure and uncertainty calculation was realised. Technical aspects of the calibration service were discussed directly in a laboratory with focus on knowledge of characteristics of used devices and standards.

As a secondary objective of this peer review, several ideas show to improve/upgrade current laboratory routine were found.

The project fulfilled all requirements and is finished.
