On-site peer review of STUK

Project Description

STUK, Radiation Metrology laboratory is a designated institute for the dosimetry quantities in Finland. In this project the QMS of STUK Radiation Metrology laboratory will be peer reviewed. The peer review will be carried out by an on-site visit of external radiation metrology experts. The review will include relevant requirements for the competence stated in EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and includes also CMC tables of the institute. According to QMS of the laboratory the peer review by NMI is performed biannually (last peer review in 2016) and peer review by radiation metrology experts is performed every 5 years (last peer review in 2013). This project will support the development, improvement and evaluation of laboratory’s QMS.

STUK, Radiation Metrology laboratory is a designated institute for the dosimetry quantities in Finland. In this project the QMS of STUK Radiation Metrology laboratory were peer reviewed by an on-site visit of external radiation metrology experts from Norway (Hans Bjerke and Per Otto Hetland, DSA, Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority). The review included relevant requirements for the competence stated in EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017 as well as CMC tables of the institute. The peer review was held on November 13-14, 2018.
In the peer review three non-conformities and a one recommendation were recorded. Two of the non-conformities and the recommendation are solved, while the solving of a one non-conformity is currently on-going.
This project supported well the development, improvement and evaluation of laboratory’s QMS as well as implementation of a new version of EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
