Mono-elemental calibration solutions of Cu, Pb, Ca and Zn

Project Description

The aim of project would be the evaluation of measurement capabilities of national metrological institutes for spectrometric solutions containing components like copper, lead, zinc and calcium used as calibration standards in AAS and/or ICP techniques. Identical samples within the concentration range of (0.5 … 1) g/L, provided by a pilot laboratory will be measured in the participating laboratories using available measurement techniques (coulometry, titrimetry, atomic absorption spectrometry, etc.). This fact would allow the comparison of performance of laboratories representing members of EUROMET.

Final Report 2007-01-25

The project has been completed and the report can be downloaded here>>.

The aim of this project was to evaluate measurement capabilities of national metrological institutes for spectrometric solutions containing zinc, lead, calcium and copper.

The material measured by EUROMET partners was supplied by the INM. Applying different methods of measurement the results were reported with a combined standard uncertainty of maximum 1 % relative for each element. The methods used were titrimetry, atomic absorption spectrometry and inductive coupled plasma mass spectrometry. No reference values were considered.

IRMM acted as intermediate and collected the results from both INM and LNE and returned the results from both organisations to LNE.

The EUROMET Projects 763 participants' results are provided in a separate NMI report from 2006 and registered under the number 5695/07.08.06.
