Ion activity measurement of Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+ and Cl- in water based mixed electrolyte samples

Project Description

In the frame of the WP3 of the project TRACEBIOACTIVITY it has to be demonstrated that SI-traceable chemical ion activities of the most relevant ionic species in mixed electrolyte samples of near physiological composition can be measured with acceptable comparability. For this purpose an international intercomparison is organised. National metrology laboratories as well as other expert laboratories are invited to participate in this intercomparison to analyse two water based, mixed electrolyte samples synthetically prepared from known high purrity chloride salts. Depending on the participant's capabilities and choices up to five ion activities are measured.

The intercomparison is part of WP3 iMERA+ Project TRACEBIOACTIVITY that partly supports the work for PTB, SMU and METAS. The works for all other participants are not funded by project money.
