High Temperature calibration facilities in the range from 960 °C to 2000 °C

Project Description

The collaboration activities will consist of studies and exchange of experience concerning :

  • features of carbon technology furnace temperature above 900 °C in argon atmosphere and under vacuum.
  • characterisation of tungsten rhenium type thermocouple.
  • calibration procedure and budget uncertainties.

Final Report 2004-03-02

The project started in 1999.
In 2000 a questionnaire summarised the partner’s facilities and research in this field. In 2001 the progress report described the calibration facilities and research of the participants since the beginning of the project.
By mid-2002 : the participants were proposed for their interest in participating to a workshop on this subject.
The studies and exchange of experience with facilities have resulted in a common standardized and comparative datasheet for the involved facilities. This sheet facilitates listing of technology, traceability and uncertainty in a simplified and comparative way. It also enables inclusion of a basic descriptive schematic of the relevant facilities. All participants have been able to fill in their data in this sheet.
The issue of workshop has not been subject to work. In the meantime, the project made possible to identify the laboratories equipped with high temperature furnaces. These laboratories reinforced their collaboration through other projects. It is therefore decided to stop the present project at this stage.
