Guidelines for the uncertainty determination and calibration of torque measurements
Project Description
A working group will be established to create a new guideline for the uncertainty determination of torque measuring machines and to describe the steps to obtain a CMC.
In addition, the existing guideline EURAMET Calibration Guide 14 "Guidelines on the Calibration of Static Torque Measuring Devices Version" 2.0 (03/2011) will be reviewed.

Progress Report 2025-10-15
A preliminary version of this new guideline has been developed by the coordinator.
This draft draws upon the EURAMET cg-4 guideline and currently features detailed sections on "Deadweight-Lever torque standard machines" and "Force-Lever torque standard machines".
However, the inclusion/coverage of "Reference transducer torque standard machines" remains an open point. The section detailing "Torque-Wrench calibration standard machines" could be effectively addressed by referencing the German guideline DKD-R 10-8:2020 (Static calibration of calibration devices for torque wrenches), assuming a consensus can be achieved.
Furthermore, the extent to which industrial torque measurement, such as methods for hydraulic bolting or torsion testing machines, should be incorporated into this guideline is currently uncertain. Involvement in the committee has so far been restricted to providing feedback on the content suggested by the coordinator.
Yet, the successful development of this guideline necessitates the active engagement of all contributors, as we are entering "uncharted territory" and cannot rely on existing precedents, unlike with the EURAMET cg-14 guideline.
