EUROMET key comparison on calibration of LS2P microphones by the primary method of pressure reciprocity

Project Description

Dissemination of acoustical pressure in order to provide traceability to calibration laboratories is very often realised by means of LS2P type laboratory standard microphones. It is therefore necessary to demonstrate equivalence in the calibration of this transfer standard and for this reason the BIPM key comparison CCAUV.A-K3 was planned.

In the meeting of EUROMET TC AUV Sound in air in Lisbon, May 2003, the number of participating laboratories has been reduced, in order to efficiently supplement the corresponding CCAUV key comparison for the EUROMET region. A preliminary time table has been set-up during the meeting.

Final Report 2007-05-14

The comparison has been completed and the results are available in the KCDB

A brief description of the project phases, based on the abstract of the Final Report, follows. The need for a comparison of laboratory standard microphones type LS2aP was agreed during the EUROMET TC AUV "Sound in air" SC and contact persons meeting in Warsaw, held in May 2002. The goal of the comparison is to complement on a regional scale the CCAUV.A-K3 comparison, in order to be able to demonstrate the equivalence of acoustical pressure standards of European NMIs. The EUROMET TC AUV presented a project No 674 for the comparison and it was agreed that EIN would be the pilot laboratory with technical assistance give by DPLA. A Technical Protocol was distributed in Spetember 2003 and measurements started in November 2003. Draft A was prepared in January 2005 and finally approved in May 2005 at TC AUV EUROMET meeting in Torino. The CCAUV approved this final report and the degrees of equivalence in September 2006.

The results of the comparison, the degrees of equivalence and the complete report is available in the KCDB of the BIPM.

Progress Report 2003-10-15

In the meeting of EUROMET TC AUV Sound in air in Lisbon, May 2003, the number of participating laboratories has been reduced, in order to efficiently supplement the corresponding CCAUV key comparison for the EUROMET region. A preliminary time table has been set-up during the meeting.

A Technical Protocol for EUROMET AUV.A-K3 key comparison, based on the Technical Protocol for CCAUV.A-K3 key comparison, has been circulated by e-mail, together with the final time table. Measurements will start in November, 2003, and end in May, 2004.
