EUROMET key comparison in the low pressure range 1 x 10^-7 Pa to 1000 Pa
Project Description
Four European Laboratories declared their participation in the CCM Key Comparisons In the low absolute (vacuum) pressure range above mentionned. NIST Is acting as the Pilot Laboratory In this field and is selecting suitable transfer standards In collaboration with NPL and PTB.
The last intercomparison In the vacuum region took place at the beginning of the 80s. Since then technologies have changed and many more laboratories have become involved in vacuum measurements. More than 10 European Laboratories declared their interest in this project.
The first step of the project should be the organisation of a workshop with the objectives of exchanging experiences about measurement methods and uncertainties, defining potential transfer standards and selecting a pilot laboratory with a view to organising European comparisons as phase of a CCM Comparison. The workshop could be held at NPL in October 1997.
The needs are funds for the organisation and participation to the workshop (about 13 countries), the acquisition and characterisation or suitable transfer standards, support for the Pilot Laboratory, transportation of the transfer standards and participation in the final meeting.
This activity would enable co-ordinated participation of European laboratories in one of the CCM-Key comparisons.

Two comparisons have been organised and completed:
The first in the range 0,1 to 1000 Pa. It was piloted by INRIM, formerly CNR-IMGC. The results have been registered in the BIPM database as the EUROMET.M.P-K1.a comparison. The results have been linked to the CCM.P-K4 and published in the database as
