Final Report 2007-10-16

The EUROMET experts within the TCEM subfield RF and microwave met on 26 and 27 April 2007 in Delft, The Netherlands. The meeting was hosted by NMi VSL. Gert Rietveld of NMi VSL took care of the meeting organization.
The meeting had a new structure and was held over 1,5 days followed by a laboratory tour on the afternoon of the second day. The meeting was organised in three sections: (i) administrative section, (ii) technical section and (iii) ERANET+ / EMRP section.
The administrative section presented information on transition from Euromet to Euramet and the European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP). Reports on the last GR-RF meeting was given and an overview of the GT-RF and Euromet comparisons in the HF area was presented and discussed, as well as reports on Euromet projects on Cooperation, Consultation and Traceability. Future projects and developments were also discussed. The developments of the two Euromet Calibration Guidance documents were discussed (on ANA and oscilloscopes) and highlights from the laboratories given. There was a very rich technical section with 9 very interesting technical talks.
The most important was the ERANET+ / EMRP section in which candidates for joint research projects (JRP) were identified and tasks for potential participants given. Lots of activity followed over the next months by the NMIs to register their Expressions of Interest (EoI) and later to finalize project documentation.
The meeting was to a large extent dominated by the memory of the remarkable figure of the recently and too early deceased Jan de Vreede of NMi VSL who should have been the organiser of this meeting.
The next meeting in spring 2009 shall be hosted by the SP in Sweden.
