EUREGA-1

Project Description (Update 2021-05-10)

In 1999, Germany and the Netherlands agreed on the establishment of a harmonised reference for high-pressure gas flow measurements to enhance the metrological base for transnational trade of natural gas in Europe. Since 2013, EuReGa is the name under which the National Metrology Institutes and Designated Institutes of Germany, the Netherlands, France and Denmark cooperate. The Harmonized Reference Value (HRV) is based on multiple independent traceability chains. The HRV is the weighted average obtained via an intercomparison procedure, applied for the first time in 1999 and updated in 2018. The laboratories change their own reference values to the HRV and benefit from a reduction of measurement uncertainties. This procedure is successful as long as the stochastic contributions to the overall measurement uncertainties are significantly smaller than the uncertainties arising from the traceability chain.

EuReGa-1 is a long running project between EuReGa partners.

The progress in 2023 has ended up in partners meetings and scheduling the coming harmonisation intercomparison and primary intercomparison and to finalise the reports from the TC-Flow project 1517 "Pilot study on high-pressure natural gas primary calibration facilities".

EuReGa-1 is a long-running project between EuReGa partners. This requires the project page on the EURAMET website to be updated from time to time. The progress in 2022 has ended up in partners meetings to schedule the coming harmonisation and to finalise the reports from the ongoing project.

A draft technical protocol for the harmonisation intercomparison of high pressure gas flow standards EURAMET 1301 was drafted and the next harmonisation 2023 has been planned.
A bilateral comparison between FORCE and VSL EURAMET project 1517 "Pilot study on high-pressure natural gas primary calibration facilities" has been performed, and a report is closed to be finished.

This project has been taken over by Kurt Rasmussen from Jos van der Grinten (PTB).
