Construction of high resistance measurement standards up to 1 Gohm

Project Description

Due to problems with financing of metrology infrastructure in 2001 none of the actions foreseen in the previous progress report has been carried out yet. Since funding seems to have been consolidated now a new time schedule for action plan is proposed.

The questionnaire to assess the actual interests and capabilities of the participating NMIs shall be circulated in the first half of 2002. The 100 M? ratio transfer standard (RTS) shall be ready for distribution to the participating laboratories within 2 months after receiving the answers. A construction booklet with the description of equivalent circuit model and instructions for use shall be provided.

Participating laboratories can apply different kinds of evaluation depending upon the capabilities and interests: measurement of parasitic parameters (leakage resistances, capacitances, etc), comparison of scaling accuracy against the established laboratory system, measurement of temperature dependence and/or voltage dependence. The RTS can be opened by the laboratory (but not dissassembled). Any other kind of evaluation deemed suitable can be performed by the laboratory, which writes a short report with measurement results including comments on design.

Exchange of information and expertise is considered the most important objective of the project besides the provision of high quality well evaluated resistance standards and RTS to the interested laboratories upon completion of the project. It is believed in this stage that completion should be possible within one year.
