Comparison of S-parameter Measurements in N-type connector devices

Project Description

Comparison within EMPIR project 15RPT 01 'RFMicrowave'. The goal is to setup and use VNA Tools software for measurement uncertainty evaluation of S-parameters. Travelling standards are a selection of 1- 2- and 3-port devices in the Type-N connector system up to 18 GHz. A detailed technical protocol exists.

Final Report 2019-05-14

The project has been completed and the report can be downloaded here>>.

The comparison has been completed. All participants performed measurements. The data has been analyzed by the pilot laboratory and a report has been written. Two review rounds of the report among the participants of the comparison have been done before the report has been submitted to the TCEM.
Unlike other comparisons on S-parameters in the past, the analysis of the comparison data was not limited to selected frequency points, instead, comparison reference values and degrees of equivalence for all frequency points were calculated and summary statements in terms of performance were derived. The report contains only the summary statements and is therefore meaningful and of reasonable size. The entire data set, including the calculated comparison reference values, is made available to the participants in electronic form together with a viewer software. This way each participant can investigate performance and problems in an effective and comprehensive way.

Progress Report 2018-08-06

The measurement loop is close to finish. The standards are currently with UME, as the last participant in the loop, and will be returned to METAS soon for the final stabilization measurement. Afterwards analysis of the data will be performed and a report will be prepared. There is a delay of approximately two months with respect to the schedule in the technical protocol, but this should not lead to a delay in the completion date. There is anyway a contractional binding by the associated EMPIR project to provide the report by this date.
