Comparison of laser distance measuring instruments

Project Description

The metrological equivalence of national measurement standards and calibration certificates issued by national metrology institutes is established by a set of key and supplementary comparisons chosen and organized by the Consultative Committees of the CIPM and by the regional metrology organizations, respectively. At the meeting in September 2010, the EUROMET TC Length decided to carry out a supplementary comparison for laser distance measuring instruments. The results of this international comparison will support the Calibration and Measurement Capabilities (CMCs) declared by the NMIs in the frame of CIPM Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA). Four different instruments will be used as artifacts. The measurements will be carried out over a distance of up to 50 m.

The three instruments will be provided by BEV (AT) (the Bosch DLE 50 and the Bosh DLE 150 with measuring range of 50 m and 150 respectively and a resolution of 1 mm and 0,1 mm and the Leica DISTO D8 with measuring range up to 200 m and a resolution of 0,1 mm.
The Leica DISTO D3a with measuring range 100 m and a resolution 0,1 mm will be provided by the pilot laboratory
