Progress Report 2009-01-27

Draft B was accepted by the Rapporteur Stuart Davidson. After some improvements it was sent to the CCM and to the head of the CCM Working Group on Density on October 4, 2006.

The measurements of the corresonding CCM key comparison CCM.D-K2 are finished and Report Draft B is in progress. After the completion of CCM.D-K2, the EUROMET comparison will be linked to it.

CMC entries were already submitted and accepted with exception of a temperature range that exceeds the temperature ranges covered by the key comparisons EUROMET 627 and CCM.D-K2.


Progress Report

Draft B of the comparison report was revised: now the degrees of freedom are included. The report is now nearly finished and will be published after acceptance by the Rapporteur and the CCM.

The measurements of the corresponding CCM key comparison CCM.D-K2 are finished and Report Draft A is in progress. After the completion of CCM.D-K2, the EUROMET comparison will be linked to it.

Density determinations of liquid samples are performed by laboratories to provide a means of calibrating or checking liquid density measuring instruments such as oscillating density meters. The aim of this comparison is to compare the results of the density determinations of the participating laboratories.

The laboratories of GUM (PL) and OMH (HU) helped the Pilot Laboratory PTB (DE) with setting up the Technical Protocol. It was decided to measure for this comparison samples of dodecane, of water and of an oil of high viscosity at 15 °C, 20 °C and 40 °C. The measurements should be carried out at atmospheric pressure by hydrostatic weighing of a solid density standard.

The stability of the used liquids is checked by the Pilot Laboratory by monitoring the density at 20 °C over a time interval of one month. In September the liquids will be divided into samples that will be sent to all participants. After the measurements, the Pilot Laboratory will check whether the density of the samples has changed dureing the comparison.

The comparison is intended to be a regional Key Comparison according to the Mutual Recognition Arrangement. It should also support provisional entries for the CMC tables in this Sub-Field.
