Calibration of ring and plug gauges

Project Description

This comparison has been started in order to verify competence of COM/Metrosert (Estonia) in calibration of cylindrical diameter standards.

Final Report 2004-09-30

A comparison has been carried out in order to verify competence of COM/Metrosert (Estonia) in calibration of cylindrical diameter standards. The initiative was made by Estonian national measurement institute COM in the frame of the PHARE project ES9903.01. Comparison is conducted in accordance with the CIPM Guidelines for key comparisons (Appendix F to the "Mutual recognition of national measurements standards and of measurement certificates issued by national metrology institutes" (MRA)).

The artefacts were a ring (nominal diameter 19.966 mm) and a plug (nominal diameter 50 mm). NMi VSL operated as the pilot laboratory of the comparison and established thereby an informal link to EUROMET LK-4.

The results are summarized in the table below. The normalised deviations (En) were calculated, none of the En values was found to be outside the expected range (ie. greater than unity).
