Bilateral comparison of Accelerometer Calibration

Project Description

METAS did participate in the recent RMO Key Comparison in the vibration field, EUROMET.AUV.V-K1 by using calibration facilities on the secondary level. Meanwhile, METAS has expanded its measurement capabilities to the primary level and is motivated to carry out a bilateral comparison in order to prove it.

The task of this project is to compare measurements of sinusoidal linear acceleration and to perform calibrations of two accelerometers. More particularly, two piezoelectric accelerometers will be calibrated according to primary vibration calibration by laser interferometry in accordance with ISO 16063-11:1999. The measurand is the magnitude of the complex charge sensitivity.

The comparison will be performed in conformance with the "Guidelines for CIPM Key Comparisons" in an amplitude and frequency range allowing for subsequent linking with the previously carried out EUROMET comparison (EUROMET project 579) performed from 2000 to 2002. METAS will act as a pilot in the comparison.

The results of comparison will be used as an evidence for METAS' CMCs for primary calibration of vibration transducers.

Final Report 2013-10-16

The comparison has been completed and results are published in the KCDB.

The comparison has demonstrated excellent agreement of the results from the participants.
