Application of the manganese sulphate bath to neutron source measurements and the associated corrections

LMRI (FR) has updated its manganese sulphate bath device. So, an intercomparison would be of interest for this laboratory to test its equipment as quickly as possible. NPL proposes that first its 10-µg-Cf252 source and later on its 1,7 mg Cf252 source be measured by participants.

A technical exchange of information would then be of interest, including the mutual calculastion of corrections at each laboratory.

Further Information

LMRI will use a De Pangher precision long counter to measure neutron leakage from the manganese bath to confirm the calculated values. NPL will perform the specification test of this counter as part of the EUROMET project.
