A Panorama over the European Union Metrology Infrastructure

Project Description

The main objective of the project is to give a comprehensive overview of the metrology infrastructure in place at Member State and EU and EFTA level. The overview will present a clear picture of the legal, administrative, organisational and scientific set-ups that are in place in each Member State to ensure the proper functioning of the national metrology system.
The overview also will include a description of the mechanisms in place at the European level to ensure coherence of the EU and EFTA metrology infrastructure.

The project also will produce an analysis of the similarities and differences between Member States and suggests some proposals on how to improve the EU and EFTA metrology infrastructure.

The project will addressed all EU and EFTA Member States, all relevant European metrology organisations also were addressed. In addition, it seemed important for the future to address the “Accession States”.
