Draft "B" approved by participants and submitted to EURAMET TC-PR: 2009-10-02

Progress Report 2009-02-20

In 2008, the pre-Draft A was prepared and is momentarily in the stage of final approval from all participants. In 2009 the draft A is planned.

Progress Report 2007-03-07

The following laser lines and power levels were selected for this first part of the intercomparison on high power lasers:

No Laser type Wavelength Power Level Approx. Beam Diameter
1 Argon ion 514.5 nm 1 W 5 mm
2 Nd:YAG 1064 nm 1 W 5 mm
3 Nd:YAG 1064 nm 10 W 5 mm
4 CO2 10.6 µm 1 W 5 mm
5 CO2 10.6 µm 5W 5 mm

The project was agreed on in January 2005. Also in January 2005, the measurements for the two transfer detectors on the agreed laser lines and power levels started at PTB. In 2005, measurements were performed in D, S, USA, F, D, ZA, and AUS. In 2006, measurements were performed in D, J, UK, ROM, DK, in 2007 measurements were performed in D. The outstanding measurements in AUS, UA and finally D are planned in 2007. In 2006, NL withdrew from the comparison.

For the second part, dealing with power levels of 100 W (Nd:YAG, CO2) and 1000 W (CO2), a new EUROMET project will be started. It is planned to send out the questionnaire for this intercomparison in the beginning of 2008, after finishing the measurements for the first part of the intercomparison.

Progress Report 2006-03-29

The following laser lines and power levels were selected for this first part of the intercomparison on high poer lasers:

No Laser type Wavelength Power Level Approx. Beam Diameter

2 Nd:YAG 1064 nm 1 W 5 mm
3 Nd:YAG 1064 nm 10 W 5 mm

The project was agreed on in January 2005. Also in January 2005, the measurements for the two transfer detectors on the agreed laser lines and poewr levels started at PTB. In 2005, measurements were performed in D, S, USA, F, D, ZA, and AUS. In 2006, measurements are planned in NL, D, DK, J, UK, UA, ROM, D.

Progress Report 2005-03-07

The technical protocol was prepared. The project was agreed on in January 2005. On January 3rd, 2005, the measurements for the two transfer detectors on the agreed laser lines and power levels started at PTB. In 2005, measurements are planned in D, S, USA, F, D, ZA, AUS.

Last year it was decided to split the comparison into two parts/projects. In the first part, the following laser lines and power levels were selected:

No Laser type Wavelength Power Level Approx. Beam Diameter
1 Argon ion 514.5 nm 1 W 5 mm
2 Nd:YAG 1064 nm 1 W 5 mm
3 Nd:YAG 1064 nm 10 W 5 mm
4 CO2 10.6 µm 1 W 5 mm
5 CO2 10.6 µm 5W 5 mm

For the second part, a new EUROMET project will be started. For the first part of the comparison a new questionnaire was submitted to all EUROMET contact persons on April 07th 2004. PTB has developed techniques based on electrically calibrated laser radiometers and calorimeters to calibrate working standards for laser power and energy.

The dynamic range (at present from 1 nW to 1 kW) shall be extended as well as the spectral range to offer calibrations for high power C02 lasers and eximer lasers.
