Pilot study on sound power measurement capabilities

Sound power sources are today calibrated following ISO 6926 standard.

According to this ISO standard, the calibration can be performed in reverberation or in hemi-anechoic rooms. In addition to these methods, a primary sound power source was developed within an EMRP SIB56 SoundPwr project ("Realisation, dissemination and application of the unit watt in airborne sound") which is based on measuring the vibration velocity.

In the pilot study, a test source is distributed, and the sound power is determined by all participants according to the methods available.
After comparison of all results, potential problems and issues will be identified and solutions discussed.

If a satisfactory amount of agreement is obtained, a key comparison will be planned and registered in the BIPM KCDB.
