On-site peer review of STUK

Project Description

STUK, Radiation Metrology Laboratory, is a designated institute for the ionising radiation in Finland. Currently, STUK has CMCs in dosimetry quantities. In this project, the QMS of STUK Radiation Metrology Laboratory will be peer-reviewed.
The peer review will be carried out by an on-site visit of external radiation metrology experts from SSM (Sweden). The review will include relevant requirements for the competence stated in EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017, focusing especially on technical aspects.

The peer-review visit is planned to be held March 29-30, 2023. According to QMS of the laboratory the peer review by NMI is performed biannually (last peer review in 12/2022) and peer review by radiation metrology experts is performed every 5 years (last peer review in 11/2018, EURAMET Project 1458). This project will support the development, improvement and evaluation of laboratory’s QMS and general functions.

Final Report 2023-09-08

In this project, the QMS of STUK Radiation Metrology Laboratory was peer-reviewed in an on-site visit of external radiation metrology experts from Sweden (SSM Swedish Radiation Safety Authority). The review included relevant requirements for the competence stated in EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017, focusing on especially on technical aspects, as well as CMC tables of the institute. The peer-review visit was held March 28-30, 2023.

During the peer review, several observations were made. Some of the observations are already solved, while solving of some observations will take longer time and is currently ongoing.
The QMS of the Radiation Metrology Laboratory were found adequate.

This project supported the development, improvement and evaluation of the laboratory’s QMS and general functions.
