Meeting of experts in ultrasonics

Project Description

The annual meeting of the acoustics contact persons has increasingly concentrated on projects concerned with sound in air at the expense of other areas of work. To correct this imbalance contact persons are requested to nominate experts in the field of ultrasonics to form a working group to generate and review project proposals concerning ultrasonics. A key task for the group will be to plan a EUROMET key comparison to follow the proposed BIPM key comparison.

It is anticipated that the group will first meet early in 1999 so that it can report to the contact persons meeting to be held in May 1999.

Progress Report 2004-05-31

The annual meeting of the acoustics contact persons has increasingly concentrated on projects concerned with sound in air at the expense of other areas of work. To correct this imbalance contact persons are requested to nominate experts in the field of ultrasonics to form a working group to generate and review project proposals concerning ultrasonics.
The first meeting of the group was held at TNO, The Netherlands at 12 April 1999. Delegates from 6 countries were introduced into the aims and the organisation of EUROMET and discussed future projects and key comparisons in the field of ultrasonics. It was decided to meet annually successively in the member states which has been realized since this first meeting. In 2002 the group was restructured into a subcommittee.
Last meeting was held in Istanbul, Turkey in October 2003. Details of CMC-entries and the progress of projects were discussed. Small presentations about own research fields are an important part of the agenda to inform other participants about novel research results and to discover new possibilities of projects. So the subcommittee promotes the understanding between the ultrasonics groups in the NMIs.

Final Report 2019-07-29

The Subcommittee Ultrasound and Subcommittee Underwater Acoustics were merged to the new Subcommittee Ultrasound and Underwater Acoustics.
The meetings are carried out regulary and continously.
