Bilateral comparison to determine the effective area of the piston cylinder unit by cross-floating

Project Description

MIKES and MSA-NMS decided to perform a bilateral comparison to determine the effective area of the piston cylinder unit by cross-floating in the gauge pressure range 200 kPa to 1,75 MPa. The transfer standard is a piston cylinder unit manufactured by DHI, owned by MIKES. The piston cylinder unit has a documented history and stability over years. MIKES has been doing effective area determinations by cross-floating method almost twenty years, MSA-NMS just started.

Final report expected during the year 2015.

Progress Report 2013-04-17

Transfer standard: piston cylinder unit no. 620 manufactured by DHI, owned by MIKES. Only piston cylinder unit was sent out and it was mounted to laboratory's own pressure balance body.
Measurements completed, results show good agreement. Results presented in the EURAMET TC-M, SC pressure meeting in March 2013. Report expected during the year 2013.
