Surface moisture depth measured in submillimetre range for the first time
Submillimetre moisture depth sensor developed in EMRP project used in mass production of small electric motors
For the mass production of goods, strict manufacturing requirements must be met. Some of the polymer parts in small electric motors must be glued together, rather than mechanically fixed, but this creates complications. The amount of moisture present in the surface of the part affects the quality of the adhesion.
In EMRP project Metrology for moisture in material (SIB64 METefnet), the University of Ljubljana developed a surface moisture sensor and a novel system for its calibration. This enables the moisture depth on the surface of polymer elements in the submillimetre range to be measured for the first time.
