STAIR-EMPIR: Joint initiative of CEN-CENELEC and EURAMET
Since several years CEN-CENELEC and EURAMET have a mutually beneficial cooperation. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization (CENELEC) are together with the European Telecommunications Standards Institute, ETSI, the officially recognized European Standardization Organizations.
To ensure the CEN-CENELEC and EURAMET co-operation on EMPIR projects, a dedicated group was created, called STAIR-EMPIR. STAIR stands for Standardization, Innovation and Research. The kick-off meeting of STAIR-EMPIR will take place on Thursday, 6 November 2014 in the CEN-CENELEC Meeting Centre in Brussels.
STAIR-EMPIR is open to all interested parties, whether they come from standardization or from metrology. Technical experts from National Metrology Institutes (NMIs) and Designated Institutes (DIs) are encouraged to participate in the kick-off meeting and to contribute to the identification and development of future pre-normative research under EMPIR. The
The STAIR-EMPIR kick-off meeting provides
- the opportunity to identify needed metrological research expertise for forthcoming and running standard developing projects and processes,
- details of EMPIR, its calls and its importance for standardization
- important information for NMIs and DIs who intend to prepare a pre- or co-normative project and
- is a perfect opportunity to prepare those projects and potentially initiate contacts with Technical Committees in Standardization.
