The International Committee for Radionuclide Metrology (ICRM) held the ICRM - Low-Level Radioactivity Measurement Techniques conference, ICRM-LLRMT 2016, in Seattle, US. Work on the measurement of naturally occurring radionuclides carried out in EMRP project has been recognised at the conference

The research carried out in EMRP project Metrology for processing materials with high natural radioactivity (IND57 MetroNORM) on new methods and devices for the measurement of naturally occurring radionuclides have been successfully presented and discussed with scientists and stakeholders at the international ICRM LLRMT 2016 conference in Seattle, US.

The poster on ‘Application of an artificial neural network for evaluation of activity concentration exemption limits in NORM industry’ by Hannah Wiedner and Franz Josef Maringer from BEV-PTP, Austria, won the Best Poster Award of the conference with the highest scores in scientific excellence, novelty and layout.

Seven presentations from the EMRP project MetroNORM were given at this conference, and the papers have been submitted for publication in the International Journal of Applied radiation and isotopes.
