New publications highlight impact from industry projects

A new report and accompanying series of case studies outline the key technical achievements and early impacts of the first group of projects completed under the EMRP industry theme.

The 'EMRP Industry impact report' explores the new measurement capabilities developed as a result of the collaborations within the industry projects. 110 metrology research groups came together with academia and industry to improve measurement methods and data quality to support European innovation, growth and competitiveness. The research focused on two areas: metrology for advanced manufacturing and metrology for electronics and information and communications technology (ICT).

The report summarises the measurement challenges and highlights key technical achievements and early examples of the impact generated, illustrating the successful uptake of new knowledge and skills. Case studies focus more closely on the benefits already being delivered to end-users across a wide range of industrial sectors that rely on effective measurement for process control and quality assurance, and for innovation to improve productivity and business growth.

The 17 projects were part of the second call of the European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP), which combines the knowledge, expertise and facilities of Europe's measurement community to address global challenges in areas such as energy, environment and industry.
