First Meeting of Working Group for Capacity Building

During its annual meeting in Istanbul, the EURAMET and WELMEC Focus Group on Facilitating the National Metrology Infrastructure Development established a Working Group for Capacity Building.

Capacity Building is an important part of the European Metrology Programme for Innovation and Research (EMPIR), which is currently part of a co-decision process of the European Union. Capacity Building shall include Research Potential Projects and Human & Institutional Capacity Building.

In its first meeting, the working group decided on its main tasks: The Group will facilitate the generation of ideas for Potential Capacity Building Topics, encourage the submission of appropriate topics among its members, support the establishment of project consortia and support the members in other call related issues. It will guide, facilitate and monitor the performance of the annual Human & Institutional Capacity Building action plans and the realisation of those activities.

On of the first steps will be to contact metrology experts to encourage them to prepare and submit Potential Capacity Building Topics and to register in the new referee database.

The working group consists of six members, including EURAMET Vice-Chairperson (GA), Head of Secretariat, Capacity Building & Member Support Officer and three members appointed by the Focus Group:
Zijad Džemic (IMBiH, Bosnia-Herzegovina), Head of working group
Robert Edelmaier (BEV, Austria)
Erkan Danaci (UME-TUBITAK, Turkey)
Janko Drnovšek, EURAMET Vice-Chairperson (GA)
Wolfgang Schmid, Head of Secretariat
Tanasko Tasić, Capacity Building & Member Support Officer
