EURAMET would like to extend its sincerest thanks to the previous office holders:
- Jörn Stenger (PTB, Germany), previous EURAMET Chairperson and Board of Directors member
Jörn has been part of the EURAMET community since 2002. This included various roles, for example as German Delegate, member of the Board of Directors and chair of the EMRP/EMPIR Committee from 2010 to 2015. In the period of 2021 to 2024 Jörn has been EURAMET's Chairperson.
“I would like to express my admiration and gratitude to Jörn Stenger who has been a cornerstone of EURAMET for more than two decades. His influence has been felt across his various roles as German Delegate, member of the Board of Directors, Chair of the EMPIR Committee and EURAMET Chairperson. During his term he has led us in complex and difficult times embracing the challenges and transforming them into new opportunities for collaboration. His work has laid a strong foundation for the European Partnership on Metrology and the establishment of the European Metrology Networks.
I am looking forward to building on the solid foundation he has established and to continuing the journey with the same spirit of collaboration and innovation", says EURAMET Chairperson Dolores del Campo.
- Aigar Vaigu (Metrosert, Estonia) and Maroš Kamensky (previously SMU, Slovakia), former Board of Directors members.
- Jacco de Pooter (VSL, Netherlands), TC-IR Chair and Davor Zvizdic (FSB-LPMD), TC-Q Chair.
- Jan Johansson (RISE, Sweden), EMN Smart North Chair and Georges Favre (previously LNE, France), EMN Advanced Manufacturing Vice-Chair.
- Paul Hetherington (previously NSAI, Ireland), former Convenor of the Board of Directors' Working Group for Capacity Building.
Commemorating Steffen Rudtsch
Dr. Steffen Rudtsch (PTB, Germany), a distinguished thermometrist and chair of the Technical Committee for Thermometry, passed away on 20 January 2024. He made significant contributions to the scientific community – his work on the International Temperature Scale and the development of new measurement methods has been widely recognised and adopted globally. Steffen published numerous influential papers, and his research has been fundamental in advancing the accuracy and reliability of temperature measurements. He was also highly involved in various national and international committees besides EURAMET.
Dolores del Campo, EURAMET Chairperson: “Steffen will always be remembered as a kind and generous person willing to offer his help and guidance. He left an indelible mark on those privileged to know him. His warmth and openness created a welcoming atmosphere around him, and his loss is felt not only in the professional sphere but also on a personal level. Steffen will not be forgotten; his legacy will live not only in science but in the memories of those who knew and appreciated him.”
