EMPIR project presentation wins best young researcher award
Jianrong Li from Dutch National Metrology Institute VSL gives winning presentation on biogas and biomethane
The award
Research carried out as part of EMPIR project <link research-innovation search-research-projects details>Metrology for biomethane (16ENG05 Biomethane) has won Best Young Researcher award for a presentation on Biogas and Biomethane given by project coordinator Jianrong Li.
The conference
The theme of the 11th World Bioenergy Congress and Expo was bioenergy: mobilising the bioeconomy and globe through innovation for a sustainable world. The conference aimed to encourage young minds and their research abilities by providing an opportunity to meet the experts in the field of bioenergy.
It was attended by roughly 50 representatives from bioenergy companies, scientists, nuclear energy engineers, chemical engineers and renewable energy organisations.
The project
The project is developing measurement standards and standardised test methods for key parameters, including impurities, which need to be monitored when biomethane is injected into the natural gas grid and used as transport fuel.
The project consortium is working closely with the biogas industry, regulators and biomethane testing laboratories to ensure that the developed test methods are robust, efficient in use and can readily be implemented.
This EMPIR project is co-funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and the EMPIR Participating States.
